A new conference format: a day of workshops

This year we decided to have one day of workshops and one day of the conference with shorter presentations of around 30 mins to an hour, similar to last year.

Workshops will likely run for a half day. This will allow you to get more in-depth training in a specific field. We will hopefully run 6 workshops depending on the feedback we get.

Let us know if you like this idea, or have any comments on the conference format.

Great idea, because able to concentrate on topic that specifically need, but also breaks it up a bit.
Sounds good - and some chance to meet in smaller groups helps give a chance for us to swap problems and advice about more specific details of a workshop topic.
1) executive breakfast -- this could bring in higher level managers with a presentation on what's hot at a local gov level in relation to strategy

2) round-table facilitated discussion. give each table a topic and have people move from table to table after 10 minutes. the facilitator is just there to expedite discussion amongst the table rather than specifically leading discussion
Hi magia3,

I like the suggestion for the executive breakfast to reach people at that level. However that's not the target audience for our conference, we're aiming at staff level, people who actually work on the web day in day out.

Reem and I will look at holding an Executive lunch/breakfast into the lead-up to the conference though as it would be great to raise awareness at that level, and hopefully gain some support for the web staff in attending our conference.

Thanks for the suggestions.
